Pinterest has announced it is opening a new office in Sydney to serve users, creators and businesses in Australia and New Zealand as demand for the platform grows. Nearly four million pins are saved by users in the two countries each day.The new team will be led by newly appointed country manager Carin Lee-Skelton, who has managed sales organisations at Pinterest for the past four years in the UK. She will grow Pinterest’s work with brands in the ANZ region to help them succeed on the platform and ensure Pinners can discover the most relevant content. Pinterest began advertising in ANZ in 2017 and ever since businesses have been using the platform to increase brand awareness and sales. “I’m excited to work closely with businesses of all sizes in Australia and New Zealand to help them reach their audiences on Pinterest. People go on Pinterest to try new things like outfit ideas, recipes, beauty looks, dream trips and even home remodels. As people come to Pinterest full of intent, businesses have a unique opportunity to inspire them to bring their ideas to life,” said Carin. This is Pinterest’s third office in the Asia-Pacific region, having opened an office in Singapore in July to service Southeast Asia and India, while the Tokyo office opened its doors in 2013. “Over the past year, we’ve been meeting growing advertiser demand by scaling our teams where we’ve launched ads such as in Australia and New Zealand, as well as expanding our ads business into new markets,” said Jon Kaplan, global head of sales at Pinterest. “With Carin’s proven industry knowledge and years of experience driving results for brands on Pinterest, we’re looking forward to further developing the opportunities for businesses in Australia and New Zealand with a local team under her leadership.”Today, more than 300 million people around the world go to Pinterest each month and their ad offerings are available in 19 countries, which is three times more than last year.
